We at Orchid Mania like to consider ourselves an old fashioned service oriented "what can we do for you" kind of place. When you visit our facility, please plan on staying awhile. We have a public rest room and water coolers, and most areas are wheelchair accessable, including the bathroom. 

Feel free to call if you need an instant answer, or email if it can wait few days. Our hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday from 9-5. We often won't pick up the call right away as we are usually out in the greenhouses tending to our plants. If you don't speak to someone right away don't despair, just leave us a message. We will call you back.

Please do not call us after hours. Everyone needs a break sometime!

Repotting Service

If you have a plant that needs help, feel free to bring it in and let us take a look and make recommendations. Often times the plant needs a little TLC including repotting. You can bring the plant to us and together we will decide what is best for the plant. If we do all the work we charge $20.00 an hour plus materials used. WE like to keep the plants here until we see new root growth, which usually takes 2-4 weeks. Reason being the plants need to be kept in a dry shady place for several weeks with very little water. We will call you when they are ready. If you want to learn how to do it yourself, we offer a service (by appointment only) where you do the work with our supervision. That service is provided one time only, per person.

We offer repotting and general care classes for beginners and "know-it-alls" alike twice a year when we have our sales. They run about two hours and are jam packed with lots of fun and practical suggestions to make your orchid growing easy and successful. You may bring in a plant that you are having problems with as long as you don't mind if I use it as an example of "what can happen if". I also stay after class for about 20-30 minutes to help w/any other questions. Please call us for more information and prices.

Potting mixes

One of the most frequently asked questions by our customers....is where do we get our orchid potting mix. After 10 years of trial and error, we have found that the mixes we make up ourselves work the best for us. So we are now offering our special potting mixes for sale through the web site and at the nursery.

Seedling Mix-----3" pots or smaller

This is a fine grade mix with bark, charcoal, sponge rock, perlite and peat.

Phalaenopsis Mix-----Medium grade mix

Bark, charcoal, sponge rock, perlite and peat

Medium Grade Mix---all purpose---4"-6" pots Great for Cattleya & Dendrobium orchids.

Charcoal, bark & sponge rock.

Large Grade Mix-----7" pots or larger

This is extra large grade mix with large aliflor (aliflor is a man made light weight rock) and large bark.

Tip: The larger the pot, the larger grade mix you will need to use.

Babysitting

We are now taking in plants for snowbirds or vacationers alike for a fee. $2.00 to $4.00 per plant per month, billed monthly. Extra charges for insect or disease treatment may be necessary before we take in your babies to put in the greenhouse with other peoples babies. There is a minimum $5.00 for a dip which can cover multiple plants, and minimum $5.00 for a repot. Other services range from picnics and private talks for a group of ten or more, FREE. We also make sure your plants are packed for travel. We will ship them if the weather is co-operating. If it is to cold we will not ship. We prefer to ship only plants of flowering size, but with no buds or flowers. We cannot guarantee they will make it.

Supplies

We are constantly reminding people that orchids are mostly epiphytes. This simply means in the wild they grow mostly on trees. We take pride in trying to keep in stock every thing you need from Pots to a variety of hooks pot clips and hangers and any unusual natural or man made product that orchids will grow on. If we don't carry it we will try and get it for you. Also, we carry a line of fertilizers, fugicides, pesticides & rooting hormones.
